Community insights helping shape Griffith’s future
Published on 04 February 2025
If you were among the many residents who provided feedback for the review of Griffith’s Community Strategic Plan you can now see how your ideas have been used to help shape the future of our community.
Griffith City Council has released the "What Our Community Said 2023-2024" report.
This document, prepared following extensive community consultation, captures the thoughts, aspirations, and priorities shared by residents. It can be viewed on Council’s online engagement hub, Connect Griffith: connect.griffith.nsw.gov.au
The report provides a detailed snapshot of what the community loves about Griffith, identifies areas for improvement, and imagines the city’s future.
Key highlights include:
• Strong appreciation for the community’s multicultural vibrancy, friendly atmosphere, and thriving food culture
• Concerns about infrastructure, including roads and Lake Wyangan, alongside calls for affordable housing
• Aspirations for a Council that is financially sustainable, with more youth and family-friendly events and better pedestrian access.
The consultation process included diverse engagement methods such as surveys, pop-up stalls, Council Committees, school visits, and campaigns like "We Love Griffith" and "Your Vision, Our Future."
The draft Community Strategic Plan 2025-2035, informed by this feedback, was presented at the Council Meeting on Tuesday, 28 January 2025, for endorsement to go on public exhibition for 28 days. The submission period closes on 27 February 2025.
Once adopted, it will guide Council’s work and spending priorities for the next decade.
Griffith Mayor, Councillor Doug Curran thanked the community for their participation.
“Your input has been invaluable in ensuring the draft CSP reflects what matters most to our residents. Together, we are building a future for Griffith that everyone can be proud of.”
