Griffith City Library Temporary Closure To Install New Shelving
Wednesday, 13 Mar 2024
Griffith City Library will be closed for refurbishment from Monday 18 March to Friday 22 March 2024 and will reopen on Saturday 23 March at 9am.The closure will allow new shelving to be installed enabling better access to the library collections, with a team from the supplier coming from Melbourne to install.
Due to the disruption within the library while old shelving is being dismantled and new shelving installed, to ensure safety of library patrons, the library will be closed to the public. Staff will be utilised moving the library collections from old shelving to new shelving and will be manning the phones for any inquiries.
Griffith City Library Manager, Chris Robson said the community will still have access to Library services via the Bookmobile. Mobile Library Service Schedule: https://www.wrl.nsw.gov.au/our-libraries/mobile-libraries/
Some library programs such as Tuesday Easter Rhyme Time will be held off site and online applications such as BorrowBox, IndyReads, Hoopla and online information databases will still be available to utilise digital resources. Online resources can be found here: https://www.wrl.nsw.gov.au/digitallibrary/
Storytime on Wednesday and Friday, and Rhyme Time on Thursday will be cancelled for the week.
Easter Rhyme Time will be held in Memorial Park on Tuesday 19 March at 10am.
“We realise that this closure will impact many people and we would like to thank our community for their patience and understanding as we work to improve our library,” Mr Robson said.
The library was successful in their application to the NSW State Library for a Public Library Infrastructure Grant to enable this work to be carried out.
